Break-Out Sessions
Break-Out Sessions have periodically been held to accommodate special interests that have been suggested at planning meetings. In the past, Break-Out Sessions have been held for the following groups and topics:
- Elementary Art
- Special Education for Regular Education Teachers
- Social Studies
- Block Scheduling
- Grade-Level Breakouts
- Librarians
- Engaged Learning Sessions
- Junior High School Subject Areas
- Guidance and Counseling
- SAC Training
- Journalism
One of the new initiatives is to start developing more "kits" for distribution throughout the region. The steering committee would like to host breakout sessions where teachers could come together to develop curriculum kits related to some theme or unit relevant to a grade level or subject.
Here is our planned session cycle for the coming years:
- FY10 - 3rd & 4th grades; Reading; PE; 5th & 6th grades
- FY11 - Science; Math; Social Studies; 1st & 2nd grades
- FY12 - Art; Writing; Music; Pre-K & Kindergarten
- FY13 - 3rd & 4th grades; Reading; PE; 5th & 6th grades
- FY14 - Science; Math; Social Studies; 1st & 2nd grades
- FY15 - Art; Writing; Music; Pre-K & Kindergarten
This is a tentative cycle and other sessions can be added as necessary.
