Recertification Window Open
April 1st marks the opening of the Teacher Certification Information System (TCIS) for the renewal of certificates that expire June 30, 2008.
Teachers and administrators with expiring certificates will need to submit proof of professional development. This proof is submitted using an appropriate Statement of Assurance.
Administrators must use the Educator Certification System (ECS) to submit professional development claims. Teachers have the option of using ECS or using one of the paper forms provided by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE Form 73-97 for Initial Certificate Holders or ISBE Form 73-98 for Standard/Master Certificate Holders).
The Statement of Assurance must first be approved by the Regional Superintendent of Schools. After this approval is attained, the Statement of Assurance is forwarded to the Teacher Certification Board for approval at the State level. If both approvals are given, then the teacher or administrator can renew and register the certificate.
