How To Become A Certified Substitute Teacher

 

To apply for a substitute certificate, you will need to:

  1. Present an Official Sealed Transcript with a Bachelor's degree posted -or- Show evidence of having an Illinois Teaching Certificate.

  2. Complete the Certificate Application Form(ISBE Form 73-03C)

  3. Pay $125.00 in fees (cash, personal check, or money order made payable to the Regional Office of Education)

  4. Provide a recent physical examination (within the past 90 days)

  5. Provide a recent negative T.B. test (within the past 90 days)

  6. Authorize a Criminal History Check
    This screening is conducted by Bushue Human Resources, Inc. in Effingham.  The cost of the criminal history check is $52.00 and is payable to Bushue Human Resources, Inc. at their office at the time of the appointment.

If you do not have an official transcript with you at the time of registration, you can still fill out the paperwork, pay all fees and have the transcript mailed to us.

 

The Illinois State Board of Education will NOT accept anything other than the Official Transcript.
